MACHU PICCHU & LAKE TITICACA - Itinerary



Day 1: LIMA

Upon arrival to Jorge Chavez Lima International Airport, you will be transferred by taxi to your selected hotel. Depending on arrival time, we can arrange optional museum visits, city tours, culinary tours, a crash course in Spanish, or even paragliding off the cliff tops of Miraflores.

Day 2: LIMA

Following breakfast there will be an included tour of the "City of Kings" you will see the beautiful neighborhood of Miraflores with cliff tops overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the historical San Francisco monastery and church (famous for its unique catacombs), and the breathtaking Plaza de Armas (Presidents Palace, the main Cathedral, the Archbishop's Palace, and City Hall). Afternoon free to explore the beautiful shops and great restaurants of Miraflores. Evening, included dinner and typical dance show.

Day 3: PUERTO MALDONADO

Morning transfer to airport and flight to Cuzco. Upon arrival at the Cuzco airport you will be met by our staff and driven to your selected hotel, where you are advised to rest to acclimatize to the altitude. After lunch your Cuzco adventure begins with a guided tour of the Plaza de Armas, the main cathedral, and the amazing Coricancha (the temple of the sun). The guided tour continues to the beautiful Incan sites of Sacsahuaman, (an impressive Incan military fortress overlooking Cuzco), Kenko (amphitheater with unique stone carvings), Tambo Machay, (fountains only used by Incan royalty) and the small fortress of Puca Pucara. Return to hotel. Various nightlife options available.

Day 4: Sacred Valley

After breakfast you will take the amazing scenic drive through the famous Andes Mountains to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Here you will visit Pisac with its beautiful ruins and its wonderful Andean market, following lunch, an excursion to the great fortress of Ollantaytambo is waiting. Evening return to hotel in Cuzco.

Day 5: Machu Picchu

Breakfast. At 5:30 am you will leave the hotel to take the 6:15 am train along the way you will be watching the sunrise over the magnificent Andes and following the Urubamba River. At 9:40 a.m., you will arrive at the Aguas Calientes Station; from there you will take a short bus ride to the awaited ruins of Machu Picchu. Once there, you will have a guided tour of the ruins and an included buffet lunch. After lunch you have the rest of the day to explore the ruins on your own. Return to Aguas Calientes to bath in the natural hot springs or dine in one of its numerous restaurants. Hotel stay in Aguas Calientes.

Day 6: MACHU PICCHU/CUZCO

Breakfast. Optional return visit to Machu Picchu. Go see the ruins at sunrise before other tourists arrive or climb the beautiful towering peak of Huayna Picchu to see the ruins from above. Afternoon train to Cuzco and transfer to hotel. Overnight stay in Cuzco.

Day 7: CUZCO/PUNO

After breakfast morning transfer by taxi to train station. This breathtaking travel by rail to Lake Titicaca through the Andes Mountains is absolutely beautiful. Once you arrive in Puno you will be met at the train station and driven to your hotel. The rest of the day is free to adjust to the altitude and explore the unique city of Puno. Overnight stay in Puno.

Day 8: FLOATING ISLANDS OF UROS

Breakfast at hotel. Early morning pickup to go to the docks at Lake Titicaca. From the docks we will go by boat to visit the Floating Islands of Uros and see the famous Lake Titicaca (the world's highest navigable lake). We will visit various floating islands made all natural of reeds from the lake, there are a total of about 30 islands. You can take short trips on the all reed boats from island to island and see the amazing life of the Aymara speaking Uros Indians. After visiting the floating islands we will move on to the Taquile Island to eat an included lunch. The island of Taquile is known for its good quality woven and alpaca goods. Evening return to your hotel in Puno.

Day 9: SILLUSTANI/LIMA

Breakfast at hotel. Morning visit to the necropolis of Sillustani, 12,000 feet above sea level, the lagoon of Umayo and the fabulous "chullpas" or tombs in the shape of cylinders. Transfer to the airport to take the flight to Lima and connect with the flight back home.
