How do I book a tour with Venture Peru?
To book a tour simply click the tab at the top of this page that says “Book a Trip” from there select your Tour, Dates, Number of People, and Hotel preference. A Venture Peru representative will contact you within 24 hours of booking the trip. If you do not see the dates you want or you would like to book a custom trip please call us @ (877)852-7378.
What travel arrangements do I personally need to make?
The only travel arrangements you need to make before the tour is your international flight to George Chavez International Airport Lima, Peru and its return. We do book all flights, trains, taxies, and other transfers within Peru for you. Please ask for assistance if you need help booking your international flight.
Do I need a passport or visa?
A valid passport is needed by all US, UK, Canada, and Australian citizens. A visa is NOT required for tourists that plan to stay in Peru for less than 90 days. To prove you are not staying more than 90 days you simply need to have a copy of your return flight ticket.
How will I get from the airport to the hotel?
With all our tours, a Venture Peru representative will be waiting to greet you at the airport outside customs. Our representative will have a taxi or private bus to take you to your selected hotel, help with your check-in and explain the next days itinerary.
What clothing items do I need to bring?
In Peru, the climate can be from one extreme to another depending on the season and location. In the Amazon basin long sleeve light weight clothing is always recommended for protection from the sun and insects. For other areas check our website for weather updates. With any tour purchased through Venture Peru you will be given a list of recommended clothing and other items to bring.
Will my credit card work in Peru?
Most hotels and quality restaurants accept Visa and MasterCard but charge a 7% fee or higher and some but not all, accept American Express and Discover. Small stores and gift shops normally do not accept credit cards.
How can I exchange money in Peru?
You can change US dollars or Euros for the Peruvian nuevo sol at change houses, money-changers, hotels or banks. All have advantages and disadvantages. Be careful changing money with money-changers or at change houses as not all are honest. As for hotels the rate is usually very low. Banks can be a better option however be prepared to wait an extended period of time. THE BEST option you have is to bring your debit card and pin number and use ATM’s to take out nuevo soles. The exchange rate is usually slightly lower than money-changers or change houses but much higher than hotels and you have no risk of being scammed by dishonest people. Remember before leaving the country call the bank where your card was issued and let them know about your travel plans.
How can I communicate with people back home?
The easiest way to communicate with people back home is by e-mail. In most cities in Peru there are cheap internet cafes on every block. Many internet cafes also offer telephone use at an affordable rate. Another option includes phone cards, but at times they can be difficult to use. Usually not cheap, but optional check with you cell phone provider to see if international plans are offered.
